Nalqeris makes eleven decorative light fittings. Two families, one material story, and no catalogue of two hundred things we have never had in our hands.
Two families, and why
The Shard range is hand-cut crystal in solid brass. The Constellation range is mouth-blown glass globes on rigid stems. They exist because those are the two things a decorative fitting can honestly do: refract light, or diffuse it. Everything else is a variation on canopy shape and drop count.
Splitting the range that way keeps the decisions small. You are not choosing between eleven products; you are choosing whether you want the light broken up or spread out, and then choosing a size.
Why the collar is brass
A crystal drop is held by a collar, and the collar is the part that fails. Plated steel looks identical on day one and starts shedding its finish at the set screw within a couple of years, usually where nobody can reach it to touch up.
Ours are turned from solid brass and finished in antique bronze. Brass does not flake — it darkens, unevenly, around the parts your hands touch. If you want it bright again a cloth will bring it back. If you leave it alone it goes the colour of an old door handle, which is the point.
What we will tell you
- The smoked globes glare if you run them undimmed over a work surface. Put them on a dimmer or take the opal.
- The 10-drop round cascade needs real height. Under about four metres of available drop it reads as a crowd.
- Nothing here is a room light. Total output tops out at 30 W. Plan the working light separately.

Fitting and electrics
Get an electrician
Every fitting here is hard-wired to a ceiling point. Several weigh 8 to 13 kg and need a joist or a rated ceiling box rather than a plasterboard fixing.
Check the drop first
Flexes can be shortened at installation but not lengthened. Measure the ceiling height before you order and see Drops & Heights.
