Choosing
Crystal or glass globes?
Crystal breaks the light into points and pattern; globes spread it evenly. Over a dining table crystal is livelier and globes are calmer. In a room with a lot going on already, globes. In a plain room that needs an event, crystal.
Opal or smoked?
Opal is translucent — you see a lit ball and no lamp. Smoked is transparent — you see the filament. Smoked is warmer at low output and harsher at full, so it wants a dimmer. Opal is the safer choice over a bedside or anywhere people look straight up into it.
How high do I hang it?
75 to 85 cm above a dining table, 75 to 80 cm above an island, 90 to 100 cm above a basin, and at least 210 cm off the floor anywhere people walk. The full table, with every canopy size and drop range, is on Drops & Heights.
Will one of these light my room?
No. Total output runs from 9 W on the three-globe to 30 W on the ten-drop bar. These are decorative fittings and a mood layer. Keep your downlights or your lamps.
Fitting
Can I install it myself?
Everything here is hard-wired, so in most places that is an electrician's job by law and everywhere it is an electrician's job by sense. Several fittings weigh 8 to 13 kg and need fixing to a joist or a rated ceiling box, not to plasterboard.
Can the drop be shortened?
The Shard flexes, yes — your electrician does it at installation. The Constellation stems are rigid rod at fixed lengths; those can be made shorter at order if you email us the ceiling height before you buy.
What lamps does it take?
Shard drops have an integrated LED, not replaceable, rated around 25,000 hours. Constellation globes take G9 LED capsules, supplied fitted, replaceable with 3 W 2700 K G9. Everything dims on a trailing-edge dimmer; a leading-edge dimmer will flicker.
Can it go in a bathroom?
Only outside the zones your local wiring rules define — none of these fittings carry an IP rating. In practice that means a large dry bathroom, well away from the bath and shower, and your electrician decides.
Ordering and delivery
Where do you ship?
Worldwide. United States orders are $12.95 standard, free over $350, or $39.95 express. Everywhere else is $34.95 standard or $69.95 express. The rates available to you show again at checkout before you pay.
How long does it take?
Orders leave within 1–2 business days. United States: 3–6 business days standard, 1–3 express. Rest of world: 8–14 standard, 4–7 express. Customs can add time we cannot predict.
Will I pay duty?
Possibly, depending on your country. Import duty and local tax are charged by your own customs authority and are not included in our prices.
How is it packed?
Each crystal and each globe is wrapped and seated in a die-cut insert, and the canopy ships separately in the same carton. The large ovals and the ten-drop fittings ship in two cartons. Keep the packaging until you are sure you are keeping the fitting — we cannot take a return back without it.
Returns
It is not right for the room.
Tell us within 30 days. It has to be unused and in its packaging — a fitting that has been wired in is not unused, so decide before the electrician arrives if you can. Full terms are in the refund policy.
Something arrived chipped.
Send a photograph within 14 days and we will replace the affected part. You will not need to post the broken one back.
