Shard Chandelier — 10-Drop Round

Ten crystals arranged in two tiers off a single round canopy. It is built for a void — a stairwell, a double-height hall, anywhere you look at a light from more than one floor.

The drops are set in an inner and an outer ring at different lengths, which is what stops a circular cascade reading as a flat disc from below. Seen from the landing above you get the tops of the crystals and the bronze; seen from the hall floor you get the full stagger.

It needs the height. Below about 4 m of total drop available it will feel crowded, and at that point the 8-drop ring hangs flatter and suits a normal ceiling better.

• Canopy and collars: solid brass, antique-bronze finish; canopy 60 cm diameter
